A Mouth for the Speechless (Part 1)

Open your mouth for the speechless, in the cause of all who are appointed to die.”
 - Proverbs 31:8

Picture this: Nazi's, during the height of the Second World War, tossing new born babies into an incinerator. Not only did this help control the Jews, but it also helped Hitler save fuel. Just imagine the horrible screams of the infants as they are burned alive. Anyone should be completely appalled by this vulgar act - and rightly so, everyone who hears this today is. However, what makes this any different than abortion? The fact that we hear ones baby's cries of protest, while we never get to hear the other's? One third of my generation is gone, and they never had a say in it.

I was inspired to write this blog after reading a recent post by Bound4LIFE, called "But They Don't Burn Babies Alive Now." In this article they talk about the Nazi's brutal murder of babies saying, "The only thing that has changed is that we kill them before they can cry so we don’t see the truth. The truth is that this is exactly how we dispose of aborted babies today. We burn them." They go on to say,  "Since it’s happening and legal many think their responsibility ends at their own life. As long as they don’t choose abortion, then they are honoring God. While it does honor God to not choose abortion, it is dishonoring when we don’t stand for those who can’t."

Some argue against comparing abortion to the holocaust, because abortion clinics are trying to "improve the world" - while Hitler was an evil and warped individual. But Hitler also thought he was improving the world by killing Jews. He thought he was right! But killing an innocent human is NEVER right! We may argue that if it is legal, than we have a right to it. But as G. K. Chesterton wisely put it, "To have a right to do a thing is not at all the same as to be right in doing it."

We are in our own holocaust right now, and it is time for us to take a stand against it. It is time for us to be "mouth(s) for the speechless."

A Love Worth Dying For

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.- 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 ESV
What is love? Is it what we see in Hollywood? "Love" based upon sudden impulses and physical attraction. Or does it go beyond that? A love that is selfless, unchanging and never ending: a love worth dying for.
In the Bible we find the greatest love story of all time: the story of a Father sending His one and only Son to free the human race. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16 ESV). This love isn't the selfish love that Hollywood portrays. It is a pure and perfect and self-sacrificing love.         "Yea," we may argue. "But that is God's love, it goes pass my own. I can't love that way." But that's not what the Bible tells us. In John 15:12-13, Jesus tells us, "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends (ESV)." And throughout the Bible we see this same pattern; true love is self-sacrificing.
Love is when a father devotes his life to providing for his family. Love is when a mother lays everything down to tend to her child. Love is when siblings stand up for each other. Love is when a spouse gives up his/her dreams for their beloved. Love is when someone gives up His life to save the world.  Love is selfless.
"Love should be unconditional. It shouldn't be 'I will love you if...' It should be 'I will love you no matter what."- Gilbert Morris, The Heavenly Fugitive

"The more that you read, the more things you will know."

"I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! ...When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library."
           - Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice

The novel is almost a lost form in our society. Yea, we read what we absolutely have to for schoolwork, but the line is drawn there. Many can graduate high school and never read a full book. Those who do read for fun stick to "Twilight," "A Diary of a Wimpy Kind" and other "popular" books (but hey, their making movies of them so why bother? :P ). But what about Jane Austen, C. S. Lewis, Charles Dickens and the other great authors of past generations? It used to be that every young man and woman would have to have a thorough knowledge of classic literature, and now many do not even know the names of these authors.

On The Rebelution an article was recently published, called "Boys Who Read," which explores the decline of literacy in America. “Throughout history more lives have been changed through books than by any other means," They begin. "Books are important. Reading is important. Charles Spurgeon, the prince of preachers, wrote: 'The man who never reads will never be read; he who never quotes will never be quoted. He who will not use the thoughts of other men's brains, proves that he has no brains of his own.' If that is true are generation is largely brainless. We don't read."

The founding fathers of America made sure that everyone could read, because they didn't want anyone getting swindled by the authorities. It happened to the people of Europe, and the pilgrims didn't want this to happen to America. But our nation has moved from being one of the most literate countries in the world, to one of the most illiterate. And without the ability to read and discern documents for ourselves, we can be easily manipulated.

So what was the last book you read? Did it "renew your mind?" Read much, so that your mind can learn and think and grow. In the wise words of Dr. Seuss, "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."

Planned Parenthood Defunded

Last Friday, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to defund the nation's largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, which has been receiving more than $350 million dollars a year to fund abortion. Many "pro-lifers" are calling this a historical moment. Will the defunding of Planned Parenhood be the first step to abolishing abortion in America?

Read Bound4LIFE's post to learn more about the defunding of Planned Parenthood.

Don't Conform... Be Transformed

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect (Rom. 12:2 ESV).

In today's society we are told just to go along with everyone else and we will be fine. But in the Bible we are told repeatedly that that we are "not of the world" (John 15:19), for Christ has called us to be with Him.

This blog is for those who are ready to be transformed by God and not by this world.
